The project has established a fund to support promising initiatives from the Government and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to combat the prevalence of violence, abuse, discrimination and social exclusion. GJP is currently funding 31 projects in 42 districts across Pakistan.
First Round of proposals In Round 1, the Request for Proposals (RFP) was advertised in three national dailies i.e. The News, Jang and Dawn. In response, a total of 124 proposals were received till the closing date of December 17, 2007. After due scrutiny as per assessment criterion, the Fund Management Committee approved 12 projects amounting to ₤0.412 million (PKR 57,726,450). Eight of these projects were from NGOs/CSOs while three proposals were from government agencies.
Second Round of proposals In July 2008, GJP advertised Request for Proposals (RFP) for the second round in major Urdu and English national and regional language newspapers, UNDP website and FM radio stations. In response to RFP, GJP received 233 proposals which were reviewed against the approved assessment criteria. 19 projects were approved by the FMC in early 2009.
